How to add and manage Domains

When your hosting account was activated, it was configured with the domain that you specified when you signed up. This article describes how to manage your original/main domain as well as how to create additional domains/sub-domains (if your hosting package includes this).

How to manage an existing domain/sub-domain

To manage an existing domain follow the steps below:
  1. Log in to Plesk
  2. Click the "Websites & Domains" tab
  3. Scroll down and you will see a list of domains and sub-domains on your account (this is the area of the Plesk Panel that gives you complete control over your websites and their content. Depending on the features that are activated on your subscription, you may have different options available to you.)
  4. Click on the domain/sub-domain you wish to manage
  5. Click on the relevant button on the page that follows (eg Website Scripting and Security)

How to create a new domain

To set up a new domain on your account follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to Plesk
  2. Click the "Websites & Domains" tab
  3. Click the "Add New Domain" button to add a new domain
  4. Under Domain name type the domain name you are adding (eg yourdomain.com)
  5. Leave the DNS server configuration unchanged (unless you have a reason to change it)
  6. Select "Website hosting" for Hosting type (or choose "Forwarding" to use this domain to redirect visitors to another website, or choose "No hosting" if you want to set up the domain without a website.)
  7. Set the Document root to your preferred location - the document root is a directory on the server where the domain's files will be stored. We suggest using "/domains/yourdomain.com".
  8. Click "OK" to finish.

Now that the domain has been added, you can click its link if you need to manage it. You cannot edit the document root once the site has been created, so be sure to set it correctly when adding the domain.

Additional domains can be accessed with the same FTP account as for your main domain. For example, if your main domain is test.com and you create test2.com, you can manage both domains with the main FTP account for test.com. You can also create additional FTP accounts by clicking on Websites & Domains > FTP Access.
